Since 1998, before the formation
of “Ajuda Amiga”, members of this Association had already started individual actions
to send help to Guinea-Bissau. All
of them are veterans of Guinea-Bissau war (1963-1974).
In a meeting on
18-04-2008 at Lisbon, a group of veterans decided to create the "Ajuda Amiga"
NGO and joined forces. The first priority was decided to be the region
of Óio, in Guinea-Bissau.

Our objectives are
defined in article 4 of the Statutes, and are the following:
"1 - Supporting the
economic and social development of disadvantaged populations.
2 - For the pursuit of
its objectives, the Association will provide support to:
projects of social support to needy populations;
b) Development projects, especially in the areas of agriculture,
services, education, culture and handicraft industry. "
Ajuda Amiga was
recognized as an NGOD - Non-Governmental Organizations for Development by
IPAD - Portuguese Institute for Development Support. This public
institute belongs to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
